AVT (Advanced Vision Technology Ltd), a manufacturer of automatic inspection, process control, quality assurance and color control for the packaging, label, folding carton, metal decoration and commercial print markets, has introduced an enhanced set of inspection and quality control products specifically designed for packaging applications. The company’s Turbo series, which includes Apollo Turbo, Argus Turbo and Argus E Turbo, is designed to provide valuable features including high-resolution inspection, unsurpassed workflow support and job verification tailored to the needs of packaging production lines. Though the new series offers a variety of benefits, it is named for its exceptionally fast and accurate vision system. According to AVT, The Turbo series affords the “highest-possible resolution at previously unattainable production speeds for best-in-class inspection quality with no quantity compromise or lost data.” The Turbo series is supported by a new, dedicated LED illumination technology; the camera provides a combination of high-resolution, high-volume quality control. Another point of distinction for the Turbo series comes with its PDF job verification capabilities. AVT’s JobRef, which enables verification at the setup stage by automatically comparing the current job to the original, customer-approved digital PDF file, has been modified to specifically address the needs of the packaging sector. This up-front comparison results not only in improved accuracy – it reduces the chance of reprints due to mistake to almost zero – but also in shorter setup times, especially in cases of previously run jobs, AVT says. Other new modules incorporated into the Turbo series of inspection systems include: • PrintFlow II, a set of recently enhanced products that includes enhanced data collection and reporting abilities. Introducing a new user interface designed for touch screen monitors, new look and feel, new features and improved statistical tolls and visual aids; the module boosts reporting and quality assurance abilities to new levels. • PrintFlow Central serves as central storage for AVT’s PrintFlow database. It allows users to store, backup and monitor all aspects of print quality from one access point, regardless of site structure and location. • Quick-set, offering fast, “zero setup” for repeating jobs. AVT’s new Turbo series of inspection systems are attractive options for packaging printers in a wide range of segments – such as flexible packaging, folding cartons, and paper and foil conversion – across a broad range of worldwide markets, including food packaging, beverages, cosmetics & personal care, pharmaceuticals, specialty items, paper and plastic bags, and commercial & semi-commercial applications. The systems can be utilized both on-press or during the finishing process on rewinders, slitter rewinders and laminators. “AVT is proud to launch the new higher-speed Turbo line of products for the worldwide packaging market,” says Amir Sheinman, vice president of marketing for AVT. “We are certain that our customers will benefit from this release, allowing them to realize even greater value from our inspection portfolio and improve the overall productivity and efficiency of their manufacturing operations.”
